Akers Biosciences received notification from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on December 20, 2006 of the company’s ability to market the Breath Alcohol ® .02 Detection System (System). Akers received this marketing clearance through the FDA’s 510(k) submission process. The System pairs disposable breath alcohol testers with an easy-to-use electronic analyzer to objectively detect breath alcohol levels that are equal to or greater than .02 percent. The company will be initiating sales activities of the Breath Alcohol ® .02 Detection System primarily in industries overseen by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as the device was reviewed and cleared for use by the US Department of Transportation (DOT) in October of ( www.akersbiosciences.com )
