Genome Prairie is a not-for-profit organization that fosters genomics research and its applications in agriculture, animal health, and human health. It does this by investing in large-scale, multi-disciplinary projects in partnership with provincial government, academic, and industry organizations. Together, this partnership is devoted to enhanced, sustainable research capacity in the region, building public awareness of genomics, and providing a forum to discuss social, legal and ethical issues. Ultimately, the goal is to reap the full economic benefits of research for the Prairies. Genome Prairie is one of six genomics centres that form the Genome Canada ( www.genomeprairie.ca )
