The Ontario Cancer Research Network (OCRN) was launched in 2002 with funding from the Government of Ontario. OCRN focuses on translational research – taking promising ideas from the laboratory, developing them into new treatment approaches and then testing these approaches to see how well they work. OCRN programs support research, clinical trials, the Ontario Tumour Bank and research ethics. In December 2005, the Government of Ontario created the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) to strengthen Ontario’s cancer research environment. The new Institute will focus on prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment and control of cancer. OCRN has been incorporated into the Institute. ( www.ocrn.on.ca )
