Osteologix is developing novel compounds intended to treat osteoporosis and other bone diseases. The lead compound, NBS-101, is a proprietary strontium-based compound and is part of a class of compounds with a new mechanism of action compared to products currently marketed in the U.S. In 2004 total sales of products to treat osteoporosis were $5.4 billion in the U.S., while worldwide sales were estimated to be $12 billion. Osteologix was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark and is headquartered in San Francisco, and has operations at both sites. It has been financed solely by Nordic Biotech, a venture capital firm headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark. In October 2004 the Company appointed Charles J. Casamento to CEO and President.
